Beachfront Beatdown Case Has Its Day
The case that started with a littering ticket and resulted in a police brutality cover-up accusation will finally be heard before a Suffolk County jury, casting light on an ugly side of Fire Island’s top party town in the process.
Trailer Park Standoff
The battle over the placement of Long Island’s homeless sex-offender population has flared up again, this time in downtown Riverhead. Town of Riverhead officials announced on Tuesday, Feb. 24 that they are planning on filing a lawsuit against Suffolk County that contends a trailer housing a group of sex offenders is too close to a public park.

Lights! Camera! Oscars! The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (seriously guys, shorten that name) had their 81st Annual Snoozefest, except this year wasn’t totally boring! Wolverine, aka Hugh Jackman, hosted the gala event, and managed to put on a good show, literally.
High Lonesome President
Last night President Barack Obama delivered a speech meant to drum up support for his plan to rescue this country from financial ruin and put some morale back in its people. Facing a room full of Democratic loyalty through political blindness, partisan doubting and real belief, he stared at them all and promised to grab us by the collective collar and pull us to safety.
