Cops: Attack on Lesbian in Mastic Beach Not a Hate Crime

Three people were arrested for attacking a woman and making anti-gay remarks in Mastic Beach but were not charged with a hate crime on Monday, Suffolk police said. Seventh Precinct officers responded to a fight on Gooseberry Drive and upon arrival found that three people had attacked the victim and while kicking, hitting and pushing the victim while making numerous anti-gay remarks about the victim’s sexual orientation at 7:05 p.m., police said.

Police Seek Public’s Help in Finding Missing Man

Nassau police are seeking the public’s help in locating a missing Russell Gardens man who has been missing since Monday morning. Heat canola oil to 350’ for frying. Combine equal parts rice flour and cornstarch. Slowly whisk in ginger ale until reach a batter consistency. Dip blanched carrots in batter. Place in hot oil until golden brown. Remove and drain oil. Heat sesame oil in frying pan. Sautee garlic, ginger, scallions, and peanuts for 1 minute. Add equal parts sweet chili sauce and sweet soy sauce. Bring to a boil. Add tempura carrots. Coat evenly. Serve immediately.
