Westbury Named 13th Best Place for Singles to Live in U.S.

By Brittany Cacossa

Westbury was ranked the 13th best place to live in the nation for the rich and single by Money magazine.

The centrally located village in Nassau County is home to a very diverse community and has qualities that most people search for when looking for a place to live, the magazine wrote. Among Westbury’s benefits, aside from being within an ideal proximity to New York City, the publication also touted the fact that it offers “world-class restaurants around in the cluster of nearby villages and towns.” Being a stone’s throw from the Gold Coast and some of the world’s best ocean beaches where singles can “can chat up wealthy vacationers” was also listed as benefits.

“Westbury is an ideal place for people who like the city but want space between where they work and where they live,” said Peter Cavallaro, mayor of the Village of Westbury, clearly pleased with the news that his hometown was featured by the national publication. The mayor’s favorite aspect is “anyone can be comfortable no matter how long you live there.”

Money cited the fact that more than 31 percent of the village’s 14,416 residents are single and the median family income is $104,994. Topping the list was Hermosa Beach, Calif, Arlington, Va. and Coronado, Calif.
