
An officer from Nassau County’s First Precinct arrested a Roosevelt woman yesterday and charged her with DWI after she struck a police cruiser while driving down a Baldwin street.
At around 12:30 a.m., a police officer from NCPD’s First Precinct was patrolling Grand Ave. when a 1999 Nissan Altima sideswiped his cruiser. The driver of the Altima, Tinisha Gainey 24, of 56 Charles Street, Roosevelt was northbound on Grand Ave. when she swerved in her lane and hit the police car. Gainey continued to drive on Grand Ave. until she stopped at a nearby intersection.

The Nassau officer approached the vehicle and asked if she and her front seat passenger needed medical assistance. Other officers who responded investigated and placed Gainey under arrest and transported her to Central Testing Section for processing.
Gainey was charged with DWI and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree. Her vehicle, which was uninsured and unregistered, was impounded. The R.M.P. was towed from the scene. There were no injuries.
