Someone’s dreams are about to come true.

The hit ABC television show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is returning to Long Island and producers are looking for a family to feature on the popular show that has been known to alter the course of people’s lives through the extensive renovations done to their homes. It is not the first time the show has taped on Long Island.

“It is absolutely life-changing,” says Sal Ferro, President of East Meadow, NY-based Alure Home Improvements, which has been featured on the show seven times. “Being a part of the show has had an incredible effect on us as human beings.”

Alure performed 7 remodels for the show, 6 locally and an Alure crew of 22 traveled to New Orleans for last year’s Extreme Makeover season finale.

Alure has no part in the process of finding a family for the show, and there has been no determination on whether the company would certainly be a part of the show this time around, although Ferro says that the show has done a phenomenal job finding the right families to receive the services.

To be eligible to be a part of the show, a family must own a single family home and be able to show producers how a makeover will make a huge difference in their lives. Interested families or those who wish to nominate another family should mail a short description of their family story to:

Los Angeles, CA 90038

Nominations/submissions must include:

1. The names and ages of each member of the household

2. A description of the major challenges within the home.

3. Explanation of why this family is deserving, Heroic, or a positive role model in their community.

4. Photos of the family and a photo of the home

5. Don’t forget to include a contact phone number.

“We haven’t been contacted by the show yet but if the show does find a family in Long Island they want to help, of course we’ll listen and see how Alure can help,” says Ferro. “This show provides an opportunity to show the world that there are good contractors out there, and hopefully we inspire others to give back as well.”

If the show does come to Long Island it is usually kept a secret until the deserving family is notified by the traditional door knock.

To monitor the status of the show’s search for a family, follow www.longislandpress.com on the web and on Twitter at twitter.com/LongIslandPress. This may be the quickest way to find out if the show is coming and if Alure has been chosen to assist once again.
