An East Islip man was arrested Sunday for beating a neighbor’s cat with a rake and shooting it with a BB gun, Suffolk police said.
A witness reported that Ronald Tergesen, 41, attacked a black cat with a rake on the night of July 18 near his Simmons Drive home, according to investigators. She immediately went to inform the cat’s owner, and upon returning with the owner, saw him shoot the cat with a BB gun, police said.

The cat, named Coco, was treated and released from East Islip Animal Hospital for head trauma, bruises and broken teeth.
Tergesen turned himself in on Aug. 2 following an investigation by 3rd Precinct Crime Control officers. He was charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals. He’s scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip.

Apparently christine is not able to read. (pronounced: ‘reed’)
Let me dumb this down for you christine. Abuse is bad. Any abuse to any living thing is bad. bad bad bad. Just like the existence of stupid people .bad bad bad (and stupidity in the form of people like you is very bad and not to mention dangerous.)
If you read (pronounced ‘red’) my last post you am see me no like cat abuse….christine, can you read? ….or am you stupid? Illiterate I can see by your writing style, but can I add stupidity when referring to you?
We’re talking about what is fact and what may or may not be fact. Go back and read my previous post (if you know how.) You will see that I am in favor of punishing a cat abuser if guilty.
What is fact here is that the owner has blame for letting the cat loose. Letting the cat loose either by accident or on purpose absolutely is negligence. But again, it is the witness’ statements that are in question here. christine you ignorant, uneducated worm….please get to the 4th grade before ever attempting to interact in any social forum again.
animal abusers deserve to die horrible deaths, and ppl tht think animal abuse is ok deserves the same fate.
jaxson—u are almost as big a piece of shit as animal abusers r. theres a difference between a cat gettin loose and a cat gettin loose THEN ABUSED. any person tht thinks animal abuse is ok needs to die along with the actual animal abusers. do the world a favor and torture urselves to death because u deserve every split second of a knife slicing open ur intestines.
Bloodprincess: firstplace= the owner let the cat loose, then (second place) = the incident…. your affiliation with the cat owner makes your comments biased.
And again Dickens, here you go:
So because someone says something is then a fact? I saw you beating your neighbor’s child. See? Because I say it does not mean it is true. And, news articles have been known to be erroneous in the past, have they not? So you are all misguided to stand by the supposed facts of a newspaper article…..Again, the cat is the responsibility of its Owner. If I let my child wander out of my home, it will surely get hurt and I would surely be responsible.
When the facts are in doubt, you rely on the absolute truth, which is: the cat’s Owner should have made sure that the cat remained off anyone’s property. If I go on hearsay, like everyone on this post has, then I can say the witness is lying, the accused is lying, the cat owner is associated with the police and is abusing is privilege, the cat owner is psychotic for installing nails through a fence so a human being would get hurt, the accused still plays with bb guns, etc..
Sounds to me like the cat was in a protective mode even before the accused notice it….maybe because it had already been hurt?..from leaving its protective house? That can’t be true, can it? You just don’t know these things because it is all hearsay from an article. Why prejudge someone based on hearsay and a potential liar? Apologies do not make up for wasted taxpayer money and traumatic experiences for both accused and accuser of the actual incident.
Look, if the accused did it, then he did it, and he should be punished. All I am saying is that the cat owner should also be punished for allowing the cat loose. The only thing in question here is if the cat was beat, or was it hurt already from a previous scrap. The cat owner’s irresponsibility does not appear to be in question. Relieving the cat owner of blame here is a cop-out.
Everyone should just go their merry way and worry about more serious issues like drugs, war, and weight control.
The cat beater was caught in the act, captured and caged. Perhaps he, too, can be “coaxed” and “moved along” into behaving like a respectable human being.
Here’s a new headliner for you:
“Coco meets CUCKOO!”
Why are you calling the cat owner psychotic? The guy who beat the cat is psychotic, you idiots!
