Alligator Rescued from West Babylon Home


A two-foot-long American Alligator and a Painted Turtle were removed from a West Babylon man’s home on Tuesday, Officers from the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SCSPCA) said.
 
Suffolk police called SCSPCA to assist at the Schnectady Avenue home after First Precinct officers received a call about the Alligator. Emergency Animal Response Team officers with SCSPCA removed the reptiles from the dirty pool with the help of Suffolk police and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) officers. alligator
 
Kevin M. Marshallek, 40, was charged with two counts of animal cruelty under the State Agriculture & Markets Law and was issued additional violations by the DEC as well.  He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date on the charges.  The reptiles were taken to an SCSPCA Veterinarian.
