A car crash claimed the life of a teenager in North Bay Shore on Saturday night, Suffolk police said.

Jonny Hernandez, 18, of Copiague, was driving a Honda Civic northbound on North Thompson Drive when he lost control of the car at 11:10 p.m., according to Third Squad detectives. The car left the roadway, struck a fence, a tree and two parked cars in the driveway of 1680 North Thompson Drive, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Excessive speed may have contributed to the crash, police added. The car was impounded for a safety check.
