Proposed Ferry Terminal, Glen Cove

Glen Cove has received $8 million in stimulus funding for the construction of a new ferry terminal and boat basin to give the city an economic boost, create jobs and improve transportation linkages to and from Glen Cove.

“Investing in the new Glen Cove Ferry Terminal and Boat Basin is a win-win,” Sen. Charles Schumer said. “Not only will these funds create jobs and help connect commuters from Glen Cove to New York City, it will ease traffic congestion and greatly improve travel times.”

The Ferry Boat Basin and terminal will also connect commuters and tourists from Glen Cove to other Long Island Sound destinations.  Construction is expected to begin within the next three months. The city expects to have an operator in place by mid-2010, with the final phases of completion for the terminal building scheduled for 2011.
