N. Lawrence Woman Charged With Falsely Reporting a Home Invasion

A North Lawrence woman was arrested Tuesday for falsely reporting a home invasion burglary four days prior, Nassau police said.

Teresa Bowden, 39, had reported that she passed out after three masked men forced their way into her Lawrence Lane home during the early morning hours of Aug. 29, according to 4th Squad detectives. She told investigators that she was forced into her bedroom, the men damaged her mattress and stole cash before they fled the scene—but it turned out the story was a cover for the fact that she had stolen $3,700 of her boyfriend’s money, police said.
