State officials say a Long Island daycare center cited for operating illegally after a 2-year-old choked to death on a carrot is now fully licensed.
The Carousel Day School in Hicksville had been cited after the March death of Olivia Raspanti. Officials said the school did not have the proper license to operate a center for toddlers and preschoolers. That situation has since been rectified, according to the state Office of Children & Family Services.

The little girl died after finding carrots in a teacher’s bag. The center’s owner and assistant director are still facing reckless assault and other charges. They have pleaded not guilty.
The school’s attorney says officials always thought they were in compliance with state laws.
