The ever arrogant Kanye West decided it would be a good idea to steal the microphone away from Taylor Swift mid-speech as she accepted her first MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video, beating out Beyonce for the win.

“Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you and I’ll let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time,” Kanye said as he handed the microphone back to the singer and left the stage.

Swift stood there like a deer in headlights, as did Beyonce in the audience, and the crowd gave Swift a standing ovation.

Later, when P. Diddy mentioned Kanye West’s nomination for Best Male Video, the audience booed and chanted “Taylor.”

Kanye lost. And, was reportedly asked to leave before he could perform.

When Beyonce won for Video of the Year at the end of the night, she declined to give a speech and instead gave the stage to Swift saying only, “I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV award with Destiny’s Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life, so I’d like for Taylor to come out and have her moment.”

Beyonce = class act.

Kanye later wrote on his blog:  “I’M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD’VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED!”
