More than a dozen people, more than half of them children, were sickened following exposure to a gas leak in Baldwin on Sunday night, Nassau police said.
First Precinct officers responded to an apartment complex on Old Mill Road after a natural gas leak, possibly from a faulty valve, was reported at 6:55 p.m. Baldwin and South Hempstead Fire Departments responded and took 15 people suffering from nausea and headaches to a local hospital for evaluation.
Nine of the victims were children ranging in ages 5 months to 8 years. National Grid also responded.
