Party Crasher: DWI Man Drives Into Middle Island Bar

A 63-year-old man has been charged with drunken driving after his car crashed through an outdoor patio at a Long Island bar.

Police say the accident happened at the Wellington Bar and Grill in Middle Island at about 11 p.m. Friday and the driver smelled of alcohol and had trouble standing. George Plunkett of Coram was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Two people were badly hurt when the sedan hurdled across the deck.

Their injuries weren’t considered life threatening.

The building suffered some damage.
