Island Park Church Burglarized

Written by Long Island Press on Oct 17th, 2009

God is always watching…

A man stole money from a church in Island Park on Friday night, Nassau police said.

The suspect entered Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church on Long Beach Road through a window he smashed in at 10:40 p.m., according to 4th Squad detectives. He then emptied the poor boxes and took an assortment of religious artifacts before fleeing the scene, police said.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 40 years old, 5′ 6″ tall with a slim build. He was seen wearing blue jeans, a tan button-down jacket, a blue wool cap and sneakers.

Anyone with more information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
