Alstom wins euro800M train order from SNCF

PARIS (AP) — Alstom SA said Tuesday it has signed a contract worth euro800 million ($1.2 billion) to supply 100 regional trains to French railway operator SNCF.

The contract is part of the SNCF’s global fleet renewal program which could see it order up to 1,000 trains over the next decade for around euro7 billion, Alstom said in a statement.

The contract signed Tuesday includes an option that could take Alstom’s order to a total of euro1 billion, with the trains to be delivered between 2013 and 2015.
