Suffolk police are investigating a bank robbery in Port Jefferson Station on Friday morning.

A man entered the HSBC Bank branch at the Jefferson Shopping Plaza on Route 112 and approached a teller with a note demanding cash and threatening violence at 9:30 a.m., according to Major Case Investigations Unit detectives.

The teller gave the robber cash from the drawer and the robber fled the bank north from the bank parking lot, police said.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s, approximately 5’7” to 5’8” tall with a medium build and acne on his face. He was wearing a white ski hat with a Yankees emblem on the front, a white-hooded zip-up sweatshirt with the word South Pole written on the front and jeans.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
