A 19-year-old motorcyclist is charged with driving while intoxicated after his passenger fell off and was hit by a car.
The incident happened early Saturday in Smithtown.
Suffolk County police say Steven Schwamb was stopped at a light on the Jericho Turnpike and when the light turned green he accelerated. His passenger, 16-year-old Alyssa Bennett, fell off.

A car struck Bennett as she was lying on the roadway. She was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where she was treated for a broken leg and possible broken ribs. Schwamb was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

i witnessed this. i was coming out of beer and smoke. the accident happened at the corner of old willets and jericho and she fell of the bike and the a hole who hit her just kept on driving and he passed right by me speeding. and dude i swear to god i saw a pool of blood under her head. she was lying on the ground not moving. and the dude who was driving the bike stopped it and ran over to her and was liek Omg Omg DOnt die please dont die etc it was reallyt freeaaky and i stopped and called the popo. and after they had said there were others that are reporting it. i jsut left. i was with firends and we were busi but i was so positive she died, until i saw this tg
what about the a-hole that ran over the girl, sure the motorcyclist was a jerk, but the scene would have been comical if not for the aggressive driver behind him, probably texting or something… how do you not see she fell off… it had to happen at the stop line from dead stop or she wouldnt fall off. i think he should have been also implicated
The guy is from Centereach. The accident happen in Smithtown…Not sure Smithtown is to blame for the 19-Year Old’s drunkenness.
Wow, I can see why everybody wants to move to Smithtown. Drinking problems, Heroin problems. Wow, no wonder property values are so high in this community…….
