Suffolk police officers rushed into a burning Copiague house and escorted four adults from inside on Sunday afternoon. 
First Precinct Officers Adam Quinones, Rick Mascio, and Mike Maio responded to a burning house on on Oak Street and upon arrival, a neighbor alerted the officers that kids were in the back of the home at 4:08 p.m.
The officers knocked down the back door, and found no one inside. They then came back to the front of the house where a woman who lives on the second floor was trying to unlock the front door.
The officers knocked down the door when she was unable to open it. The woman told the officers her dog was on the second floor and the officers attempted to go up the stairs, but the smoke was too heavy.
The woman then told the officers that there were people living in the basement, but when the officers knocked on the basement door, no one answered. They knocked down the basement door, and found four men were inside who did not realize the house was on fire.
Copiague Fire Department firefighters responded and extinguished the fire. The dog climbed out a window and onto the roof and was saved by a firefighter
