Brentwood Bicyclist Critical After Hit-and-Run

Police Car Lights - GOOD.JPGSuffolk police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a Brentwood teen in critical condition Saturday night.

A 13-year-old bicyclist was crossing Carleton Avenue at Spur Drive when he was struck by a light-colored mini van or SUV at 4:45 p.m. The driver then fled.

The victim was transported by a Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center in Stony Brook where he is listed in critical condition with injuries to his face and head.

Two other bicyclists riding with the victim were not injured. The investigation is continuing.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
