Vicki Kennedy says she has no Senate plans

By Associated Press on Nov 25th, 2009

CHICAGO (AP) — Vicki Kennedy tells Oprah Winfrey that she will never run for the seat in the U.S. Senate that was held by her husband for nearly a half century.

In an interview aired Wednesday on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Kennedy adamantly told Winfrey that she didn’t want the job that the late Sen. Edward Kennedy held until he died of brain cancer in August.

Vicki Kennedy talked about her life with her husband and his memoir, “True Compass,” which was released a few weeks after his death.

In the sometimes emotional interview, Kennedy talked about how her husband faced his grim prognosis and his determination to survive long enough to see Barack Obama elected president.
