A Long Island mother has been arrested and accused of leaving her toddler in a car while shopping.
The 32-year-old woman from Woodmere was arrested on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child as she returned to her car Saturday afternoon carrying bags of merchandise from a discount retailer.
Nassau County police say the girl was left for at least 30 minutes. A passer-by spotted the 2 1/2-year-old girl in her car seat and called 911.

The girl was not hurt and was returned to her father. There was no working phone number listed under the mother’s name and address.
