Seton Hall beats Long Island 95-66


NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Jeremy Hazell scored 21 points and four others reached double figures as Seton Hall beat Long Island 95-66 on Saturday night.

Robert Mitchell scored 20 points, Herb Pope had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, Eugene Harvey had 18 points and Jordan Theodore added 11 for the Pirates (4-0).

The Seton Hall defense caused trouble for the Blackbirds (2-3) all night. The Pirates forced 21 turnovers and had 14 steals, including a game-high 7 by Harvey. The Pirates also had eight blocked shots, with three each by Pope and John Garcia, who had 11 rebounds.

Michael Culpo came off the bench to lead the Blackbirds with 13 points. Jamal Olasewere and Jaytornah Wisseh each added 10 points.

The Pirates led 44-27 at halftime and led by 40 at 86-46 on a 3-pointer by Theodore with 7:05 to play. The Blackbirds closed with a 20-9 run for the final margin.
