An elderly bus driver from East Northport surrendered to Suffolk police on Tuesday morning for allegedly kissing a middle school student he was driving home from school nearly two weeks ago.
Michael Dibella, 73, was driving students home from Elwood Middle School on Nov. 19 but when there was just one 11-year-old girl remaining on the bus, he stopped a short distance from the student’s home, turned off the ignition, sat next to her, grabbed her face and kissed her on the lips multiple times, police said.

Dibella, a Huntington Coach Corporation employee, then drove the student home where the student told her mother, who called police.
“The bus driver… had no prior disciplinary incidents in the district and was cleared by the State Education Department to work in the schools,” the Elwood School District said in a statement. The bus company declined to comment.
Dibella surrendered at the Second Precinct where he was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
The Second Precinct Crime Section is asking anyone with information regarding this incident or who may have had a similar experience to call 631-854-8226.
The girl is a liar. The girl was getting revenge for her friend, who Mr. DiBella reported to the school for throwing seatbelt buckles out the window at passing cars.
All he is guilty of is needing a job at the age of 73. Imagine what it is like to be him, in Jail for something you didn’t do.
The girl needs to learn the meaning of the word Karma. If she sees this, she should look it up, and think about the impact of her lies on an old man, and what she has robbed him of… Freedom, his reputation…
So let’s see: 73 years old and never in trouble for this sort of thing before. Either he’s the most wiley pedophile who ever lived…or the victim of a vindictive, lying young woman!
It was found that over 30% of all CONVICTED rapists were innocent when DNA testing was done after their conviction- but now we can count that as a triviality, because now, no juries or courts or judges are needed, but the mere accusation of a young woman, with no witnesses or evidence, is enough to publicly defame somone and cause their arrest and incarceration.
This is SICK! -and in a society where things like ortal sex and the sharing of pornography regularly take place in middle schools, and where half the “children” dress like they should be standing under a lamp post in Times Square.

I suppose you have NO CLUE TO THE LIFE LONG DAMAGE that is caused by these horrendous acts perpetrated on children! There is NO spectrum of a “kiss” is less damaging than a “touch”! Get my point! This young child will not only carry this damage for the rest of her life……but it will also effect anyone and everyone she ever loves, it will effect her children, husband, etc……

Sure, what this guy did wasn’t kosher but look at it, he is an OLD MAN. He kissed the girl. Wrong? Yes, but by what your implying he needs the death plenty. Innocent until proven guilty. I would like more details about this case. Have they truly substantiated what the 11-year old told them. Does the 11-year old have a discipline problem and the bus driver have words with her? Maybe she’s making it up to get back at the bus driver?
