Woman Arrested in Shirley for DWI with Child

An East Moriches woman was arrested at 1:08 a.m. this morning in Shirley for driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child, Suffolk County police announced.

Police were already in the area when an officer from the 7th precinct observed a 1995 Buick on Mastic Boulevard sitting idle with its headlights turned on. The officer approached the driver, 32-year-old Melissa Maurici, and after interviewing her, determined she was intoxicated.

Maurici is charged with driving while intoxicated. Additionally, the presence of her 8-year-old son in the vehicle earned her an endangering the welfare of a child charge.

Her son was released to his father and Suffolk County Child Protective Services was notified of the incident.

    R U kidding me I know this woman and she is total trash. If Brion wants her in the childs life than he is just as guilty at neglecting his. And besides, we all know what Brion does.

    This women involed is my cousin as well as her son. The father Brion is not a crackhead. He is out here raising and protecting his son by himself trying the best he can. He wants nothing more then for melissa to be involed in thier sons life. caroline is a catholic hypocrit and has no business sticking her nose in the mother and fathers business concerning thier son. she needs to worry about own kids!!

    what was a 8 year old child doing in the car that hour at night and to be with the mom drunk.. what would you be saying if she got in an accident and someone got hurt cause of her being drunk.. CPS should be involved when a parent is obviously not responcible…
