Elderly Woman Struck, Killed by Car in Ronkonkoma

An elderly woman crossing the street in Ronkonkoma was hit by a car and killed early Monday morning, according to Suffolk police.

Police say Aurea Sepeda, 73, was crossing Veterans Memorial Highway at the intersection of 5th Avenue at around 6 a.m. when she was hit by a westbound Nissan driven by Desmond Daniels.

Sepeda of Central Islip was transported by ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where she died a short time later. Daniels, 24, of Holbrook was not injured.
