Two Arrested for Narcotics in Oyster Bay


StopandShop.JPGTwo men were arrested on Friday after a drug transaction was witnessed by undercover Nassau police in an Oyster Bay supermarket.

Police say at 9:30 p.m., undercover narcotics detectives, while in the parking lot of Stop and Shop located on Pine Hollow Road, watched 31-year-old Jesse Firestone of Farmingdale park his black Nissan SUV, enter the front passenger seat of a parked white Ford Explorer and buy drugs from the driver, 27-year-old Deron Barnes of Locust Valley.

When the detectives approached the Explorer and identified themselves, the Barnes tried to get away by driving in reverse and ramming the unmarked police vehicle before jumping out and running away.

When caught, the Barnes fought with detectives. Recovered from the vehicle were several bags of what appeared to be cocaine, heroin and approximately $1,700.

Firestone had his 4 year-old son in the back seat of his SUV. The child was released to his mother.

Barnes was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest.
