A mother was arrested after she left her two young children unattended in her car while she shopped in Setauket on Friday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
Suzanne Driscoll, 42, of Port Jefferson, left her 2-year-old daughter and 6-month-old son unsupervised and unattended for about 20 minutes in the back seat of her Hyundai Santa Fe in the parking lot of the Target on Pond Path at approximately 4 p.m., police said.

The temperature outside was approximately 20 degrees, and the car engine was off. The children were released to the custody of their father, and Suffolk County Child Protective Services was notified.
Driscoll charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She is due at First District Court in Central Islip on Dec. 22.
