Cops: Armed Robber Hit 2 Stores in 1 Night

Nassau police are investigating two robberies at gunpoint they believe were committed by the same suspect about a half hour apart in Mineola and North Merrick. handgun2-300x22511

A masked man armed with a handgun entered the Dunkin Donuts on Old Country Road in Mineola and stole cash from the clerk at 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday. He fled the scene on foot.

Then at 12:18 a.m. on Wednesday, Robbery Squad detectives believe the same suspect entered the Fast Break Food Store on Merrick Avenue in North Merrick armed with a handgun and robbed the cashier of an undisclosed amount of cash. He then fled the scene on foot northbound toward Williams Street.

The suspect is described as a black man with a thin build who was wearing a brown jacket and black sneakers.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
