Man Arrested for Long Beach Rape


handcuffs2-300x241An Island Park man was arrested last week for raping a woman in Long Beach three weeks ago.

Long Beach city police said 54-year-old Alphonso Barnes grabbed from behind a woman who was walking on the 100 block of West Olive Street, forced her into a yard and raped her at 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 5.

He was apprehended in Hempstead on Dec. 16 and charged with first-degree rape, aggravated sexual abuse, criminal sexual act, kidnapping, assault and robbery.

Barnes pleaded not guilty at Long Beach City court. He is being held without bail at Nassau County jail and is due at First District Court in Hempstead on Jan. 6.

Prison records show that he has served time for burglary, robbery and criminally negligent homicide.

    So I decided to look this guy up on the ny state prision records. If this is the same guy he is a career criminal that should not have been let out of jail this past October.
