Mastic Rape Case Against 3 Teens Dismissed

Charges against three teenagers who were accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in Mastic three months ago were dismissed in Suffolk County court on Friday.

Mastic resident Tyquan Dawson, 18, along with a 16-year-old from Mastic and a 15-year-old Bellport boy, were arrested and charged with rape on October 19.  Suffolk prosecutors consented to releasing the three on their own recognizance on October 22.

Further investigation revealed no force was used and it was  determined that the charges cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, according to a spokesman for Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota.

The motions to dismiss the criminal charges against the three suspects were granted by Judge Gaetan Lozito in First District Court in Central Islip.

Any investigation into the circumstances surrounding the complainant’s recantation will be referred, as directed under New York State law because of the age of the girl, to the Suffolk County Attorney’s Office, prosecutors said.

The girl RECANTED the accusation 3 days after the consensual sex. Meaning? SHE LIED.

    “Dismissed” doesn’t mean “Not Guilty”

    “Not Guilty” doesn’t mean “innocent”.

Simply means “the charges cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt”.

    Thank the lawyers and judges.
