Egypt beats Ghana 1-0 to earn African Cup title
LUANDA, Angola (AP) — Egypt won the African Cup of Nations for the third straight time Sunday after substitute Mohamed Gedo scored in the 85th minute for a 1-0 victory over Ghana. Gedo curled in a shot from within the area to give Egypt its record seventh title.
Apple’s own approach to iPad e-books could confuse
NEW YORK (AP) — Even as Apple’s iPad will likely energize electronic reading, the new device is undermining a painstakingly constructed effort by the publishing industry to make it possible to move e-books between different electronic readers. The slim, 1.5-pound “tablet” computer unveiled last week will be linked to Apple Inc.’s first e-book store when it goes on sale in a few months.
Obama To Consider Local Views Re. 9/11 Trials
Objections from New York City officials and residents have intensified since the Justice Department announced late last year it planned to put Mohammed and accused Sept. 11 conspirators on trial in federal court in lower Manhattan. In its new budget, the administration is proposing a $200 million fund to help pay for security costs in cities hosting terrorist trials.
Leafs acquire Phaneuf and Giguere
TORONTO (AP) — The Toronto Maple Leafs shook up their struggling club, acquiring defenseman Dion Phaneuf from the Calgary Flames in a seven-player deal Sunday and swapping goalies with Anaheim to get J.S. Giguere. Along with Phaneuf, Toronto received Keith Aulie and Fredrik Sjostrom from Calgary in exchange for Ian White, Matt Stajan, Nick Hagman and Jamal Mayers

Russian police break up protests, scores detained
MOSCOW (AP) — Russian police broke up anti-Kremlin protests in Moscow and St. Petersburg on Sunday, and detained scores of demonstrators, including three prominent opposition leaders. Several hundred demonstrators gathered in a central Moscow square, defying a ban imposed by authorities.
