A car claimed the life of a 32-year-old West Babylon man in Melville on
Wednesday morning.
Suffolk police say Jean Xavier was driving a Nissan Maxima westbound on Ruland Road when he lost control of the car and struck a tree in front at 6:30 a.m. It appears speed and slippery road conditions were contributing factors, police said.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner in Hauppauge.
