Heart disease is still the #1 killer of women

By Long Island Press on Feb 5th, 2010

You’ve probably worn pink for breast cancer awareness, but now it’s time to pull out the sexy red stilettos for National Wear Red Day on Friday.

The Go Red For Women movement is working hard to change the perception that heart disease is a man’s disease. In fact, it is the number one killer of women.

But awareness doesn’t stop with wearing red. Here are some things you can do every day to keep your heart healthy.

1. Stop smoking

2. Start exercising

3. Know your risk factors

4. Reduce stress

5. Eat a healthy diet

6. Know your cholesterol

7. Know the signs of a heart attack

8. Maintain a healthy weight

9. Have regular medical check-ups

10. Have your blood pressure checked regularly

11. Take the heart checkup here.
