East End Woman Killed in Crash

A sport utility vehicle crash claimed the life of a 43-year-old East Quogue woman in Flanders on Tuesday night, Southampton Town Police said.

Beth Gruebel was driving her Ford Explorer northbound on County Road 105 when she lost control of the SUV, which overturned and struck several trees at 7 p.m., police said. Gruebel, who was driving alone, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they believe excessive speed and at least one inadequate tire contributed to the accident. They add that Gruebel was not wearing her seatbelt.
