A car crash claimed the life of a 60-year-old Bethpage man on Thursday evening.

Nassau County police said Richard Horan was driving a Nissan southbound on Silber Avenue when he suffered a cardiac arrest as he approached the intersection of Cherry Avenue in Bethpage and lost control of the car at 5:08 p.m.

The vehicle mounted the sidewalk, struck a fence and crashed into the bleachers of the Bethpage High School Athletic Field, police said.
