Cops: Burning Car Had Body Inside in Mastic Beach


A person was found dead in a burning car in Mastic Beach on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.
 
Officers responded to a call of a vehicle on fire in the driveway of an Orchid Drive home shortly after 1 p.m. The Mastic Beach Fire Department extinguished the fire and found a body burned beyond recognition in the driver’s seat of the dark-colored Saturn.
 
The victim was pronounced dead.
 
Homicide and Arson Squad detectives are investigating.
