Inferno Movie Preview: Lindsay Lohan Stars in Inferno

By Elizabeth Lipari

The movie Inferno, starring Long Island’s Lindsay Lohan, is planned to release in 2011 where the production will take place in Los Angeles. The movie takes place in the 1970s and is based on Linda Lovelace’s (stage name that Linda Susan Boreman adopted) real life, who starred in the adult film Deep Throat as a frustrated woman exploring her sexuality in 1972.

Deep Throat made a huge impact in its release but was banned in the UK and was a topic for numerous obscenity trials in the United States.

Fred Melamed, a Montauk resident, is being discussed for a part in the movie, too.  Melamed most recently starred in the dramatic movie, A Serious Man, where he played the villain Sy Abelman.  Melamed feels that Inferno is a serious movie of significant value but is also skewed because of the way Lohan is perceived in the media lately.

The movie does not delve into graphic pornography. A disturbing film in a lot of ways, it’s not designed to excite.

Focused around a twisted love story about Lovelace and her husband, Chuck Traynor set against sexual utopianism in the ’70s will stir a lot of emotions in the film.  With Lohan in the movie, it became even more enticing.

As challenging as the role will be, with Lohan’s ups and downs she has the emotional experience to play Lovelace.  It will take a lot of time, effort and commitment for Lohan to portray Lovelace’s character to her greatest extent.

If all goes well, Inferno may not end up in a disaster.  But that will be left up to the viewers.
