Woman Killed in East Farmingdale Industrial Accident

A work-related industrial incident claimed the life of a 39-year-old Lake Ronkonkoma woman in East Farmingdale on Tuesday.

Suffolk County police said Yolanda Gonzalez was in the process of labeling pallets of canned tomatoes for transport by a forklift at L & S Packing when two adjacent pallets of bottled vodka sauce fell on top of her at 6:48 p.m.

Several co-workers came to her aide and removed the pallets. Gonzalez, the shipping manager of the Central Avenue facility, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Homicide Squad detectives.
