Man Shot, Wounded in Roosevelt


A man was shot and wounded in Roosevelt on Wednesday afternoon, Nassau County police said.        

Officers responded to an alert from the ShotSpotter system for gun shots on Prospect Avenue and upon arrival learned that a man was in a dispute with three men when one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and fired five shots at the victim, striking him in the stomach at 3:08 p.m., police said.

The victim was taken to Nassau University Medical Center by a friend where he is listed in serious but stable condition.

The suspect was described as a white/Hispanic man, 5’5”-5’6” tall, wearing a white T shirt and tan shorts who fled in a red Dodge Avenger.

First Squad detectives ask anyone with information on the above shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
