Wyandanch Man Injured After North Amityville Shooting


A Wyandanch man was injured after he was shot on in North Amityville on Wednesday afternoon, police say.

Cashawn Winbush, 24, was arguing with four men inside a car in front of 89 Williams Ave when he was shot in the abdomen by one of the men at 4 p.m., according to police. The suspects fled the scene after the shooting.

Winbush was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage by a private vehicle, then transferred to Nassau University Medical in East Meadow where he was listed in stable condition.

The investigation is continuing. The suspects are described as four black men in their 20s. The car is a new black four-door BMW 5 Series model.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
