Village of Rockville Center officials are reconsidering a law they passed on June 8 that banned Rottweilers and pitbulls in the village after the move sparked a wave of criticism.
Village spokesman Jeff Kluewer said the there were no complaints from the public when the law was approved with a 4-1 vote.

But after receiving a slew of complaints from residents and animal rescue groups, the board will vote Tuesday evening to suspend the law. Critics say the village law violates New York State law.
“No dogs have been taken from their owners,” Kluewer said.
The village may vote to repeal the law at a later meeting after a public hearing.

Yeah, why doesn’t he tell the truth as to WHY there weren’t any complaints the first time? Let’s start off with how the “public announcement” was published in one newspaper for a short amount of time. How were the local residents and advocates supposed to know!?! It’s a public meeting Kluewer, make sure the PUBLIC knows about it!
I’m glad they are seeing the light. BSL does not work, and it IS in violation of NYS law.
