A Bethpage-based catering company has settled a federal lawsuit alleging labor violations by agreeing to pay $93,110 in back wages, damages and interest to 14 employees.
The U.S. Department of Labor filed the suit against Sterling Caterers & Restaurant in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York after investigators found evidence that found the company violated the Fair Labor Standards Act, including minimum wage, overtime pay and record-keeping requirements.
The suit claimed the company owed the employees $61,667 in back wages, $30,833 in liquidated damages and $610 in post-judgment interest.
