North Shore Animal League Hosts Birthday Bash For Shelter Dogs

The North Shore Animal League of America (NSLA) is celebrating the universal birthday weekend for rescued dogs by holding a birthday party onSaturday. The party, complete with cake, a bouncer maze and a dunk tank, will also promote the adoption of rescued dogs.

NSLA declared August 1, “DOGust the 1st” making it a universal birthday for shelter and rescued dogs around the world. The Luau style celebration starts on Saturday at 1 p.m., and the guests of honor are several rescued dogs from Canada. These Canadian canines, along with the other dogs of the shelter, will be available for adoption.

For the entire weekend dogs that are 1 years-old or older will be free to adopt, and the first 40 adopters will receive a “box of goodies” from Petland Discounts. Adopters will also have a chance to win numerous prizes, including passes to Hershey Park and an 18K white gold bracelet that is adorned with a jeweled bone, of course.
