Police Search for Suspect in Westhampton Bank Robbery


A Westhampton Beach Astoria Federal Savings branch was robbed Saturday morning, Suffolk County police say.

A woman entered the bank at an approximately 9 a.m. and handed the teller a note demanding cash. The teller complied and gave her an undetermined amount of money. The suspect was last seen running behind a 7-Eleven located at 61 Sunset Ave.

The suspect is described as a black woman between 35 and 45 years old and between 5’4” and 5’7” inches tall. She was wearing sunglasses, a black and white hat with horizontal stripes, a black top, a black skirt and white slippers.

Major Case detectives, along with Westhampton Beach Police, are investigating and ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
