A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Jericho early Saturday morning.

Nassau County police say 21-year-old Harris Fein of Jericho was driving his BMW eastbound on South Service Road when he rear-ended a Harley motorcycle being driven by 59-year-old Thomas Berg of Shirley at 12:10 a.m.

Berg was pronounced dead at the scene. The 60-year-old female passenger on the motorcycle was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment and evaluation of shoulder pain.

  1. God always takes the best people first and leaves the losers for last that’s the dumbies who open their mouth and have no heart for motorcylers Tom made no mistakes in driving his bike when his life was taken because of a stupidity move and neglect on the part of the driver behind him my opion is he tried to intimidate Tom and instead killed him well shame on him . Tom Berg was one of a kind as stated he was a number 1 guy in everyones eyes who new him. He will be missed by many of good fine people my heart goes out to all those who have missed him and long for his return that will never happen due to the lack of respect on the roads of our unconsidering drivers. Amen

I miss my brother, my children miss their uncle; he was and is loved, respected, and honorable. Tom loved life and to the many children he brought moments of happiness, his heart could not be measured. Tom was lettered in high school, attended college, volunteered and served his country as a Marine during a time when others fled north, he was a businessman, instructor, mentor, husband, son and role model for what a man stands for –I miss my brother Tom

Wow — I thought the days of stereotyping were over. For the unfortunates who have no idea about the joy of motorcycling, as well as the many rewarding experiences that come with it, you should really keep your opinons to yourself. Biclite — If you really believe all motorcyclists are “1 percenters” and “roll” that way, as you put it, you have no clue how many of us are hard working, upstanding citizens of our communities who support our government and our country and honor our servicemen and women. Driving is a privilege – whether you are on 2 wheels, 4 wheels, 10 wheels or 18 and the roads are meant to be shared by all.

My condolences to the victim’s family and friends. We who are of like minds have lost too many.
