Hurricane Earl has grown into a Category 1 hurricane, forecasters say, as it makes its way toward islands in the Caribbean.

Earl could hit the Northern Leeward Islands by Sunday night and could increase to a major hurricane by Tuesday, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Hurricane Danielle is already causing rough waters on the East Coast and Long Island and forecasters warn Earl could raise tides by three feet in some areas and cause flash floods and mudslides in the Caribbean.
