A drunken driver struck and killed a 66-year-old man who was crossing a street in his hometown of Uniondale early Monday morning.

Nassau County police said Plutarco Caceres was walking across Uniondale Avenue just north of Coleridge Road when he was struck by a southbound Honda Civic driven by 26-year-old Jonai Washington of Hempstead at 2:05 a.m.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide Squad detectives charged Washington with vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and driving an uninspected motor vehicle.

She was arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
