Cops: Drivers in 2 Hamptons Crashes Were DWI


Two drunken drivers were arrested after crashing their vehicles in the Hamptons this weekend, Southampton Town Police said.

In the first case,  24-year-old Byron E Zabala-Tacan of Quogue crashed his vehicle a utility pole on Brushy Neck Lane in Westhampton shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday, police said. His passenger was treated for minor injuries and the road was closed for several hours while Long Island Power Authority workers repaired the damage.

Then at 5:02 a.m. Sunday, Jaclyn A. Wawrzenski, 33, of Moriches, backed her Ford sedan into a parked vehicle in the parking lot  of Buckley’s Restaurant on West Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays and attempted to leave the scene, police said.

Both drivers were found to be intoxicated and were charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

Tacan was also charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to maintain lane.

Wawrzenski was additionally charged with leaving the scene of an incident.
