“I think I’m a very attractive person, but I don’t put myself in the realm of the beauty…That’s not where I get my esteem,” she tells ShowbizSpy.com. “I’m a size 8, and I feel proud of that, because it’s healthy. I’ve never felt compelled to be a skinny actress. Being a sex symbol is not my thing; it’s not where I shine.”
Hargitay plays Detective Olivia Benson on Law & Order Special Victims Unit, but in her down time she heads up the Joyful Heart Foundation to help real-life victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

its nice to know someone out there is looking out for the abused i live in arkansas and it does not seem that people here care alot about abused women in the small town anyways one of the only womens shelters around here closed because the building they were in has been sold its so sad women here seem to not be as important as the men alot of the abuse gos on in front of the police its just good to know someone cares thanks
